RESOURCES PROVIDED TO THE COMMUNITY INCLUDE:

Safety
  • Community safety - a secure 24/7 facility to house delinquent/violent youth
  • Court room security

Evaluation/Intervention/Education
  • Assessments - risk to reoffend/interventions, suicide screen, substance abuse evaluations, PESQ
  • Disposition reports - provide a holistic picture of the youth for sentencing
  • Education - assessments, curriculum, credits, tutoring
  • Counseling - daily life, behavior modification, substance abuse
  • Training for youth - personal hygiene, sex education
  • On-site testing - DNA/UA
  • Youth advisor - weekly at detention center
  • Facilitation of mental health services - referrals, follow up
  • Family support - contacts with parents/guardians
  • Alcohol Drug Education Classes - monthly 4 hour class
  • Case management - not just monitoring, but facilitating change in behavior, reduction of risk factors, increase of protective factors

Community Interface
  • Restorative justice - consequences, restitution, community service, victim/offender mediation
  • Interagency Meetings - CSAT, CPT, Interagency Consortium
  • Staff members are positive role models for youth in the community
  • Interagency training - free in-service training provided, approximately seven times a year

Non-offender Programs
  • Truancy Court - working with 9 school districts weekly, annual meeting, monitoring community service, detention, school, and purge conditions
  • At Risk Youth/Children in Need of Services - Becca Bill - assistance for out of control teens
  • Child advocacy - Guardian ad Litem - abused/neglected children/family court/adoptions - 977 children served since 1991
