County Coroner: David Rodriguez

Dave RodriguezThe Okanogan County Coroner is an elected position, partisan, 4-year term. Duties are established by state constitution and statutes.

The primary responsibility of the Okanogan County Coroner’s Office is to investigate all sudden, unexpected, and medically unattended deaths that occur within the County. ‘Sudden and unexpected’ does not always mean violent and/or traumatic, but those deaths are also investigated. The Coroner has two specific duties when investigating a death; to determine cause of death (the medical reason why a person has died) and manner of death (the circumstances surrounding the death).

The Coroner responds to death scenes, interacts with law enforcement personnel, identifies the decedent, notifies and assists family, schedules autopsies when necessary, follows up with physicians, prepares death certificate information, prepares Coroner’s reports and conducts Coroner inquests when necessary.

Compassion, professionalism, and public service to the citizens of Okanogan County are the top priorities for the Coroner.
