Financial Technician

Okanogan County Public Works

Okanogan County Department of Public Works is recruiting for the position of Financial Technician. This position performs a complex variety of clerical and accounting activities as required by the department, section or division to which assigned. Individuals assigned to this classification are expected to be skilled in a wide range of clerical and fiscal matters and to perform independently in accordance with established and general policies and procedures requiring regular interpretation.

Responsibilities include accounts payable processes including budget expenses and invoices, accounts receivable, utility billing for three separate sewer systems – receipt in payments – post payments to billing system – balance monthly spreadsheets, Solid Waste – knowledge of operations – tonnage – fees and charges, Payroll – set up new employees in accounting program – input daily timecards – process bi-monthly payroll – quarterly reporting – yearend balance of payroll - FICA and Medicare amounts and prepare W-2’s for Public Works employees.

This is an FLSA nonexempt Teamsters Union position reporting to the Administrative Officer. Starting salary is $2,706 per month or $15.61 per hour or DOE. Annual increases for the 1st 5 years of employment of 5%. Full benefit package includes paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, medical, dental, vision and more.

Engineering Technician

Okanogan County Department of Public Works is recruiting for the position of Engineering Technician. Candidate will be assigned duties based on experience, abilities and education. Salary range $3,426 to $4,166 depending on qualifications. This is a union position with a full benefit package.

Qualified individuals will perform duties in one or more of the several engineering sections that may include development review and right-of-way, contract administration, environmental review and permits, project development, pavement management and traffic count, inspection and surveying, GIS and mapping, design, utilities/water and sewer systems and other office or field duties as assigned.

Under general supervision, the Engineering Technician positions have primary responsibility for performing complex field and office functions dealing with surveying, computations, design, and records maintenance. Candidates must have the ability to develop, implement, and apply policies and procedures, form work methods and schedule job priorities. Errors in judgment and performance could result in significant problems for the County.

Engineering Technician Assistant

Okanogan County Department of Public Works is recruiting for the position of Engineering Technician Assistant. Candidate will be assigned duties based on experience, abilities and education. Salary range $2,955 - $3,594 depending on qualifications. This is a union position with a full benefit package.

The Engineering Technician Assistant is the first level in the engineering technician series. Duties are completed usually under general supervision. This class is distinguished from the Engineering Technician class by a lower level of expertise, or the needs of the department. It is distinguishable from the Engineering Technician class by less of an emphasis on lead worker responsibility and more complex work assignments. Incumbents are expected to gain the knowledge and abilities of the higher class of Engineer Technician.

The Engineering Technician Assistant’s primary responsibility is performing complex tasks as identified below in this section with general supervision. The Engineering Technician Assistant must apply engineering methods to situations, which are generally routine and recurring. An essential function of the Engineering Technician Assistant is to become cross-trained and assist other Engineering Technician Assistants and higher level Engineering Technicians. Policies and procedures are established and individuals are expected to apply these properly to the situation. Errors in judgment and performance could result in significant problems for the County.
