5:00 p.m. Special Meeting Evaluate and Discuss the Qualifications of a candidate for appointment of
Elective office
Special Meeting of the Okanogan County Board of Commissioners met in Special regular session on February 1, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. Commissioner Jim DeTro, Commissioner Andy Hover, and Laleņa Johns, Clerk of the Board present. Commissioner Chris Branch in Olympia via telephonic conference call.

Special Meeting joint session was convened by Chairman Parker of the five counties of the 7th District Legislature with roll calls of each county being Spokane, Ferry, Pend Oreille, Stevens and Okanogan Counties.

Motion Executive Session RCW 42.30.110 (1) (h)
The boards moved to go into executive session at 5:05 p.m. for 5 minutes to evaluate the qualifications of a candidate for appointment to elective office. Motion was seconded, all were in favor, motion carried.

Chairman Parker came out of executive session and announced at 5:10 p.m. executive session extended an additional 5 minutes.

Chairman Parker announced at 5:15 p.m. that executive session ended.

Chairman Parker announced that there must be at least 8 votes for the appointment, not a majority vote.
Chairman Parker stated a role call vote would be made by each commissioner and would need at least 8 votes on the names announced

Jacquelin Maycumber 12 votes

Larry Stickney 0 votes

John Smith 3 votes

Jacquenlin Maycumber was selected for the appointment to fill the position vacated by Shelly Short.

Commissioner Hover asked how Commissioner Branch would like to sign the certificate of appointment. He stated the clerk could sign for him telephonically.

Commissioner Hover and Commissioner DeTro signed the Certificate of Appointment appointing Jacquelin Maycumber of Ferry County to the office of State Representative of the 7th Legislative District of the State of Washington.

Commissioner DeTro adjourned the hearing at 5:45 p.m.
